Subject: Stus-List Re: Water pump mystery- SOLVED

So after replacing and checking every part of the cooling system, I finally
got a replacement raw water pump from the Netherlands (AB Marine Service)
and was able to install it last weekend. It was not a drop-in replacement
for the Sherwood (as advertised) but I was able to finagle a way to install
it. I am overjoyed to report that it seems to have fixed the problem.
Water is coming out the transom and the engine temp was normal for a 20
minute run around the harbor. I still do not entirely understand what was
defective about the old one. I put in a new impeller and it looks OK in
general, but for some reason it was not generating sufficient flow or
pressure for the cooling system to work correctly. Finally, back to
sailing! Thank you for all the input from the list. Dave
