The main thing is to keep the grease off the pawls so they don’t stick. Use just regular 3-in-1 oil for those. I grease the needle bearings. I use the Harken or Lexmark winch grease. Back in the day on race boats we used a mix of three parts Lubriplate 301, 2 parts STO, and one part Marvel Mystery Oil so the winches would turn quickly. Longevity wasn’t as much of a priority back then! Andy
