I think your biggest problem is the Color Red - No one has, to my knowledge, been able to make red colorfast, it has always been the hardest color to keep from fading. One thing you might try, is to, if you can, buff out or wet sand out the oxidation, and then spray (or maybe roll and tip) some clearcoat over it. It seems to work on cars. When I re-worked My 39, I used a PPG product called concept, which is similar to Awlgrip, and then sprayed a Clear coat called DCU 2082, (Stratoclear). It held up great for the time I had it, maybe Rich can comment on if it is still shiny.
