Okay... have them do a console login after it "hangs". I want to know if it's network not responding, if the entire machine has locked up, or if you had a panic. > Should I create a cron job to re-start this machine daily at 2 > am? As others have said, this wouldn't do much good. Much better to found the actual problem. You can check log files for hard drive errors. Inspecting fans for noise and slow rotation would be prudent. But the big question (to me) is, can one log in via console? I want to know if the whole machine is totally down, or if certain things just cease to work... Might be good to leave something connected to con, so that you'll have record of any panics. -- Eddy Brotsman & Dreger, Inc. - EverQuick Internet Division Phone: +1 (316) 794-8922 Wichita/(Inter)national Phone: +1 (785) 865-5885 Lawrence ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Date: Mon, 21 May 2001 11:23:58 +0000 (GMT) From: A Trap <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Please ignore this portion of my mail signature.
