I would have to agree with this statement. But the administrative software that they use on the RaQ4 I believe is different than the RaQ3. Sure the RedHat is free and all the other open source software. But the administrative software I would think would be the gotcha.
Assuming this licensing issue is resolved (I host, not resell). I have a RaQ3 I believe without the "i". Which at the RaqWare site (http://www.raqware.com/osrcd.html) should I get of the RaQ4 series? The one suggested in an ealier post was the RaQ4i, but I never grasped the understanding of 'i','r'. Also, is there other providers of this 'upgrade' other than raqware. I would like a pricing on three of their major competitors hehe. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Blacknight Solutions" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, September 30, 2002 6:33 PM Subject: [cobalt-security] Licensing... was: openssl upgrade - PKG for the RaQ4 available Cobalt/Sun RaQs are hardware. They come with a version of Linux. If upgrading faulty software is a breach of copyright then we are all guilty of trying to protect ourselves and our customers. If in the course of this protective action it is deemed necessary to replace the original OS, surely this is a good thing? If you go looking for updates for RAQs what do you notice? RAQ4s are the most widely supported, followed by RAQ3s.. It's normal.
