Thank you Michael,

Indeed after installing this package (thanks Robbert!) GD shows version 
'bundled, 2.0.23 compatible'.

I do however have one problem: this version doesn't have JPG support 
enabled.

Anyone can shed some light on how to enable this JPG support?
