If you log into the vmware site and register and then try to download
ESX/ESXi you'll see references to ESX 4 update 1.  You can get a free
evaluation of both hypervisors.  I'm not sure if they're changing the
name or something but I think vSphere is the gui you can use to
control the ESX/ESXi boxes.

install either VMware ESX or VMware ESXi Installable on a given
