I would like to easily remove older versions of rpms from the cobbler
directories.

I'm always updating my local rpms from the internet sources, and over
time several versions of the same rpm

are stored wasting a lot of disk space.

As a specific example, the following directory on my system

/var/www/cobbler/repo_mirror/fc8-i386-updates

has the following duplicate rpms

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root apache 250393214 2008-08-30 03:10
alienarena-data-20080603-2.fc8.noarch.rpm

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root apache 279361784 2008-10-22 20:52
alienarena-data-20081016-1.fc8.noarch.rpm

I tried creating a bash script to find duplicate names, but because
every package uses a different naming and versioning format it is
difficult to do reliably.

I assume cobbler knows what the latest revs are and could purge the
older revs no longer used?
