Yeah it probably needs a patch for that.

One thing we can do that virt-install can't though, it just work with 
volume groups.

You can say "give me 20 GB in VolGroup00" and koan will carve it out for 
you.

This is covered on the FAQ on the Wiki. This error message from libvirt 
is not a real error, it's just noise.
Koan can't make it go away though. It is safe to ignore and fixed in 
later versions of libvirt.
