I-25 and Rockrimmon (Ute Valley Park & HP campus).

Last night at 5:29pm, I saw a Great Horned Owl sitting atop a street lamp
box (2' x 1') about 25' in the air. This lamp post was within 100' of the
nest (ponderosa pine - 25' high) used last year by a pair of GH Owls that
successfully fledged 3 young. After a couple moments, another GH Owl
(obviously male) flew up and mounted the female. Copulation lasted about 20
seconds with all sorts of squawks and squeaks. Whereas the male flew off to
the area of the nest and the female stayed on the lamp post with tail
feathers held erect and undertail coverts ruffled.

This warm weather also has flickers drumming and calling; as well as hairy
woodpeckers.

Red crossbills have been present for a couple weeks.
