I went after Duane Nelson's report of a LeConte's Sparrow in Bent County today (see Duane's 1/31 post). Following Duane's directions (take the first two track west of Rd 20 south from JJ Rd) I easily found the location. I walked up and down the reedy area finding Swamp (8 or 9) and Lincoln's (12) Sparrows. Per a personal email from Duane, he has found a greater number of each species. I could not relocate the LeConte's, though it could well be in there. I would recommend two or three people walking the area together as sparrows scatter in all directions and more eyes would help.
