Hi all,

Spent much of this glorious sunny day at the Snowmass ski area. Late morning I
was at the top of Sam's Knob where around 200 Rosy Finches were visiting the
feeders (a fairly even mix of Brown-capped and Gray-crowned of both forms) plus
Pine Siskins, Pine Grosbeaks, Gray Jays, Mountain Chickadees and Red-breasted
Nuthatches and a Townsend's Solitaire - rather high up at 10,600 feet in early
Feb. I helped a while at the regular (Wednesday afternoons) banding station -
at least 25 Rosy Finches were banded in the brief time I was there.

Later I was at the top of the Gondola - (foot passenger ticket $26) and a flock
of crossbills flew around the tree tops calling. I got good looks at least one
male White-winged Crossbill - there may well have been several more. The bird
feeder there did not have any visitors in the few minutes I was there, but the
lift operators told me that they are getting plenty of birds daily, as well as
a American (Pine) Marten most days.. yesterday it was apparently there for half
an hour in the afternoon, showing well to a crowd of admirers. No-one reported
seeing it today. American Martens were reported regularly at that feeder last
ski season (07-08).

Good birding all
