Arapahoe County: --A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Kilpatrick at McLellan Reservoir on February 8. Bent County: --7 Swamp Sparrows and 1 LE CONTE'S SPARROW were reported by Nelson at the west end of John Martin Reservoir on January 31. The area is south of Rd JJ and west of Rd 20. On February 4, Shaum found 8-9 Swamp Sparrows in the area. On February 5, Kilpatrick and Walbek refound the LE CONTE'S SPARROW and many Swamp Sparrows. On February 6, Nelson found 2 LE CONTE'S SPARROWS and many Swamp Sparrows about .5 mile to the west of the original location. On February 7, Shaum relocated 2 LE CONTE'S SPARROWS. Boulder County: --All 3 species of Rosy-Finches were reported by Dunning at Fawnbrook Inn in Allenspark on February 7. Waltman reported all three species of Rosy-Finches at Fawnbrook Inn on February 11. --A 1st-cycle Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Szeliga at Prince Lake #2 on February 7. --2 Thayer's Gulls (1 ad, 1 1st-cycle) were reported by Szeliga in the NW corner of Boulder Reservoir on February 7. On February 12, Szeliga reported 1 adult Thayer's Gull at Boulder Reservoir. Delta County: --22 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Beason on the Gunnison River at Confluence Park in Delta on February 8. El Paso County: --A pair of Barrow's Goldeneyes was reported by Luck at Big Johnson on the NE side on February 7. On February 10, Brown reported one male Barrow's Goldeneye. Jefferson County: --5 Trumpeter Swans (4 ad, 1 juv) were reported by Dunning on Lower Church Lake on February 7. The swans were seen again on February 9 by Brown and on February 10 by Kilpatrick. Lower Church Lake is at US 36 and Church Ranch Blvd. Larimer County: --A Mute Swan was reported by Kogler at Ryan Gulch Reservoir on February 7 and was seen again on February 9 by Brown. On February 10, Griffin reported that the Mute Swan had moved to a smaller pond SE of the reservoir. Mesa County: --A White-winged Dove was reported by Arnold in downtown Grand Junction on White Ave on February 7. Weld County: --Mute Swans were reported by Lefko on Arrowhead Lake in Greeley on February 7. Arrowhead Lake is south of Hwy 34 and south of 47th Ave. --A lst-cycle Thayer's Gull was reported by Deininger at Windsor Lake on February 7. The DFO field trip for Saturday, February 14 will be Bird Watching for the Novice at Belmar Historic Park led by Karleen Schofield (303-936-8661) Meet the leader at 0900 at 800 Wadsworth Blvd at West Ohio Ave. Turn west on Ohio Ave and go 2 blocks straight ahead into Irongate parking lot and to the lake. Trip will end before noon so lunch is optional If weather seems questionable, call the leader before going. The DFO field trip for Sunday, February 15 will be to Roxborough State Park led by Doris Cruze (303-798-8072). Meet the leader at 0800 at the Visitor's Center for a 3.5 hour walking tour on an easy trail. State Parks Pass required. Lunch optional.
