EASTERN TOWHEE  (Bent) 
Northern Cardinal  (Yuma) 
Lapland Longspur  (Delta) 
Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch  (Saguache) 
White-winged Crossbill  (Mesa)

Bent  County: 
--Miller reported that the  female EASTERN TOWHEE was seen again at dawn on 
March 8 in the Wood Thrush Grove  at the intersection of County Roads 16 and 
JJ.  The bird was on the south  side. 
Boulder  County: 
--An adult MEW GULL was  reported by Szeliga at Cottonwood Marsh in Boulder 
on February 15.  On March 8 Blatchley refound the MEW  GULL at Cottonwood. 
Delta  County: 
--10 Barrow's Goldeneyes were  reported by Beason at Confluence Park in Delta 
by the Gunnison River parking  lot on March 9. 
--A juv Tundra Swan was  reported by Garrison near the Hwy 50 bridge in  
Delta 
on February 20.  Beason reported that the Tundra Swan was  near the bridge on 
March  9. 
--A flyover Lapland Longspur  was reported by Wild at Confluence Park in 
Delta on March  8. 
Logan/Sedgwick  Counties: 
--Prather reported 4 Glaucous  Gulls (2 adult; 2 first yr) and an adult 
Lesser Black-backed Gull at Jumbo  Reservoir on March 13. 2 Glaucous Gulls (1 
adult, 1 first year) and  the adult Lesser Black-backed were seen  again on 
March 
14. 
--Prather reported a male  Barrow’s Goldeneye at Jumbo Reservoir on March 14. 
Mesa  County: 
--Arnold reported that  White-winged Dove continue to visit feeder on White 
Street in downtown Grand  Junction on March 9. 
--On Grand Mesa on March 8 Wild  reported 2 + White-winged Crossbills and 2 
American Three-toed  Woodpeckers. 
Saguache  County: 
--Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches  were reported by Kaempfer at a puddle melt along 
US 50 about 2 miles west of  Sargents on March 9. 
Weld  County: 
--5 Swans were reported by  Dixon on Baxter Lake on March 2. 
6 Swans were reported by  Deininger on March 3. 
On March 4, Deininger reported  5 Swans.  On March 5,  Wild 
identified the 6 swans as  Tundra (5 ad, 1 juv). 
On March 7, Spencer reported 6  Tundra Swans at Baxter. 
Baxter Lake is just east of  County Line Road and north of WCR 40. 
Yuma  County: 
--A pair of Northern Cardinals  was reported by Peterson and the DFO birders 
at Foster's Grove Campground at  Bonny State Park on March 8.  Peterson also 
reported a Pine Grosbeak at  Foster's Grove.  A Pine  Grosbeak 
that far east away from the  mountains is very unusual.  Another  Northern 
Cardinal was reported by  Peterson on the south side of Bonny on March 8. 
The DFO Field Trip for  Saturday, March 21 will be to Boulder's 
Walden/Sawhill Ponds and Environs led by  Paula Hansley, (720)890-2628. Meet 
Leader at 0830 
at the Cottonwood Marsh  parking lot, at the end of a short, signed access 
road off of 75th Ave. north of  Valmont Drive. Half-day trip, to wrap up by 1 
p.m. Lunch optional.   
The DFO Field Trip for  Sunday, March 22 will be to  Chatfield State Park led 
by Paul  Slingsby, (303)422-3728. Meet Leader at 0800 at the small parking   
lot on Deer Creek Canyon  Road, just west of Wadsworth Blvd.  For this 3/4 
day trip bring lunch, water  and a scope if you have one; expect lots of 
leisurely   
walking. State Parks pass  (or fee) required. Please register with leader  
in advance.
