Hello again, I had looked for burrowing owls while on the Taylor and Rocking 7K ranches and we didn't see any. But the Taylors told me on 3/14 that they had seen one in a prairie dog town that day. So they are back! Golden eagles are most definitelly on the nest at the Taylor's as well.
I also had a chance to visit Turk's Pond on 3/14 and found 6 white pelicans, some redheads, a northern shoveler, a couple Canada geese (didn't have good binoculars to tell if they were cackling, etc) and a few killdeer. These are the first I have seen this year. Regulars were the ringed necked pheasants, horned larks and meadowlarks as well as some red winged blackbirds. Across the road from the entrace to Turk's in a pond at a feed lot I found scads of ducks. There were more redheads, tons of mallards, northern pintail, both blue winged and green winged teal, and possible? wigeon? Again I didn't have the best binoculars so I'm not sure on that one. Spring is coming!
