Hi Cobirders,

Stopped at Big Johnson Resv today. Warm, mostly clear, with a slight
SE breeze pushing the ducks closer than usual.
Saw 60+ Ring-billed Gulls, 50+ Com Goldeneye, 10+ Hooded Mergansers,
15+ Com Mergansers, 3 Ruddy Ducks, 3 Lesser Scaup males, 20+
Bufflehead, 100+ Eared Grebe in mixed plumages, and a few other
dabblers.

The coolest, though, was seeing probably a patch of upwelling on the
middle that was the scene of a waterfowl feeding frenzy. There were
dozens of grebes, goldeneye, bufflehead, and a few N Shovelers working
in a small, concentrated oval, feeding rapidly. There were waterfowl
scattered all over the lake, but that one spot was packed! (And why
weren't the gulls checking it out?)
