Hi Birders,

Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar released the State of the Birds
report today.

Details and video can be found at www.fws.gov

and

Fully 1/3 of of the nation's birds are in serious decline. There is a
lot of work we need to do to as birders and scientists to move this
trend in a positive direction. Thank you to the folks in the Colorado
birding and conservation community that contributed to this report,
which is a great many if you for example did a Christmas Bird Count, a
BBS route, etc. etc.!

Best,

Scott Severs
Longmont

P.S. the Bald Eagle in Colorado will be removed from the state
threatened list on May 1, these birds are doing very well indeed.
Boulder County went from 0 nesting pairs just a few years ago to five
nesting pairs nowadays! Wow!
