Hi Cobirders,

I made a trip out to Bonny Lake this morning to see what might be
around. The lake is higher than it was last summer, and fields are
starting to green-up. It was pretty windy, so not much success with
passerines in the woods, but I did see four Eastern Bluebirds - 2 near
the dam, and 2 near Foster Grove. Also 8 male turkeys there.

On the lake there was a raft of 40+ white geese - far away from any
access point on the West end, good numbers of Am Wigeon, Mallard, and
Green Winged Teal, but smaller numbers of N Pintail, Com Merganser,
Redhead, N Shoveler, and mostly paired Canada Geese. Most fun for me
was an adult Bald Eagle soaring near the dam at road-height, male and
female N Harriers near the dam, 8 Double-crested Cormorants, and 75+
Am White Pelicans, showing their breeding bill "protuberance".

On the way home I stopped by Flagler SWA off I-70. Only a few
wigeons, mallards, and Ring-necked Ducks on the water, and a GB
Heron. Lots of Horned Larks and a Ferruginous Hawk nearby.

Also, finally, I stopped at Ramah SWA, El Paso Co., because I thought
I saw water there on the way out at sunrise. Wrong! There is about
1/2 acre of water, a few inches deep, and lots of weedy mud. I'm
guessing it will be dry next week. One solitary Killdeer is all I
could find there. Oh, and great news - I had my FOY Com Grackles
today at Falcon and Burlington!
