This warm weather has brought some signs of spring to our backyard here in
Lakewood. In the backyard we had a first Lesser Goldfinch on Sunday and a pair
of Common Grackles came this evening. The Mourning Doves have returned, cooing
from the top of our cottonwood. Until this winter, we had never had Bushtits,
but this winter we had a flock periodically throughout the winter. Every day
this week, I have had just a pair of Bushtits foraging in the yard that must
have broken off from the flock. And of course, the Flickers and Downies are
drumming on everything they can find.
