On 4/7/09 AM there was a Short-eared Owl at a field between Mosca and Hooper, the first I have seen in that area, in Alamosa County. San Luis Lake had lots of common waterfowl. Birds were sparse at Great Sand Dunes Nat. Park - with just a couple things of interest like Spotted Towhee and Clark's Nutcracker. Road between San Luis Lakes and Great Sand Dunes is now showing more Loggerhead Shrike and Sage Thrasher, plus a magnificent juvenile Golden Eagle. Over at Home Lake, mui mui common waterfowl and gulls and one Greater Yellowlegs.
