Cobirders,

This afternoon, I went to Genesee Park [exit I-70 west of Denver] for my
annual Williamson's Sapsucker. Parked in the parking lot. The road to the top
of the mountain where there is a historic Flagpole is still blocked at
the Parking Lot. I crossed the wire gate and started to walk up the road. I
heard the familiar hard, sharp pecking, three taps, three taps, three taps
of the Sapsucker near the large covered group picnic barn. I saw through a
hole in the trees the top of the telephone pole just northeast of the barn
a pair of Williamson's in bright sunlight; the male just below the top
pecking once in while; the female was at the edge of top of pole a few inches
away. I potential prize photograph but I did not have my camera. I have
heard and seen the Sapsuckers here for many years. They also nest to the east
of the road where the pavement ends and in a dead tree at the top west of
the Flagpole.

I also saw many Western Bluebirds, Mountain Chickadees, 1 Townsend
Solitaire, Crows, Robins, and Pygmy Nuthatches.

Peaceful birding,

Warren Finch
