Following is a link to a short, slow motion video of two female house sparrows
who were locked in a vicious fight in our yard for more than 5 minutes. Most of
the time they were behind the wall stones of our garden and out of view. They
fought all the way up the hill in our yard and out of sight into our neighbors
yard.  This is the first time we've seen such behavior and we are at a loss to
understand what would have caused it. We've heard of males injuring each other
in dominance fights, but not  females. Would anyone know if this common
behavior for female sparrows? Is it likely a dominance fight?  Or could it have
something to do with the  juvenile birds that have also been coming to our
feeders recently?http://gallery.me.com/longopavlik#100000
