Hello, Birders.

I visited Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County, during my lunch break this raw,
drizzly afternoon. There were some nice birds out there, among them:

* 1 alternate adult Thayer's Gull. Just right out there along the shore. Walked
right up to it.

* 1 alternate Semipalmated Sandpiper. Standing right next to the Thayer's Gull;
that was an interesting combo.

* Other shorebirds: 5 Killdeer, 5 American Avocets, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, 3
Wilson's Snipes.

* 7 Wood Ducks. Standing on a fallen log.

* 2 Blue-winged Teal and 3 Cinnamon Teal.

* 6 vocal Franklin's Gulls.

* 1 bedraggled alternate Chipping Sparrow, frequently flushing and uttering its
glorious flight call.

* At least 10 male Yellow-headed Blackbirds back at their nest colony in the
cattails.

An encouragement/reminder/exhortation, if I may: Nasty spring storms often
bring great birds to Front Range reservoirs, especially those right along the
foothills. If I could be there right now, I'd be at Boulder Reservoir or
MacIntosh Lake or somewhere like that. Anyone?
