Hi All,

I'll consolidate and repeat some bird posts already on-line. Today Todd
Deininger, Tom Wilberding, and I birded many locations in the County. It was a
great day with three possible county firsts including adult Brown Pelican at
Totten which was also spotted by Dennis and Jim Garrison, Caspian Tern at the
west end of McPhee first spotted by Todd, and a Snowy Plover found by Heather
and Riley Morris also at the east end of McPhee. As some of you may know
southwest Colorado has had very strong winds (mostly from the southwest for
several days over the past two weeks and this has probably caused some birds to
deviate from their normal migration path. Since the wind continues and
outdoor visibility is very limited as I write this, I suspect that even more
exciting finds might occur over the next few days.

We also birded Yellowjacket Creek and found that the Lucy's Warblers have
returned although we only observed one pair which were not singing. Gray
Vireos and Gray Flycatchers were also back. In addition we had a probable
female Summer Tanager which was heard well, but seen poorly so we're reviewing
recordings in an attempt to make a positive ID.

Good birding!
