Nick Komar and I found a singing male Northern Parula along the Big Thompson
River in Loveland (Larimer County). To get to where we found it: we parking at
the Barnes Softball Fields (from Highway 402, take Highway 287 north about a
mile, the fields are on the west side of the road). Then we walked west,
crossing a bridge, then continued to follow the trail that goes under a road
(S. Railroad Ave). The bird was only about 200 yards west of that road. The
Parula was hanging out with Yellow-rumped Warblers.
Other interesting birds we saw/heard in the area was Gray Catbird,
Black-crowned Night-Heron, Brewer's Sparrow, and Orange-crowned Warbler.
