Arapahoe County: --A GLOSSY IBIS with White-faced Ibis was reported by Walbek at Cherry Creek State Park on April 25. It was in the pond along the road near the model airplane field. 2 GLOSSY IBIS were reported by Kirkpatrick at Cherry Creek on April 26. Baca County: --An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Kaempfer in Carrizo Canyon on April 25. --An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Kaempfer at Two Buttes on April 25 and by Percival on April 27. --A male Northern Cardinal was reported by Mark Miller at Two Buttes on April 26. --A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Percival at Two Buttes below the dam on April 27. Bent County: --A Black-and-white Warbler was reported by Percival at Hasty Campground on April 27. Boulder County: --A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Harlan at Prince Lake #2 on April 25 and seen again by Partin on April 26. --A Northern Parula was reported by Zilly at Pella Crossing near Hygiene on April 25 and seen again by Zilly on April 28. Zilly also reported a fly over Broad-winged Hawk on April 28. --A Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Tomas in Ash Trees in his backyard on April 25. He is willing to let birders in the yard if they are home. The address is 1280 Doric Drive, Lafayette. This is south of Waneka Lake. Take South Boulder Road. Turn north on Centaur Village Drive, then west on Carla Drive, and north on Doric Drive. If they are not home, the trees can be seen from Ceres Drive. The warbler was identified by David Waltman on April 26. --A singing male Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Severs on the St. Vrain Greenway east of Golden Ponds to the railroad tracks on April 26. Crowley County: --A BROWN PELICAN was reported by Bill Maynard at Lake Meredith on April 25. It was seen from the north side of the lake. Custer County: --A female KENTUCKY WARBLER was reported by Rich Miller in the Willow Thicket below the dam at DeWeese Reservoir on April 28 and seen again on April 29 by Percival. Delta County: --A Purple Martin and red Fox Sparrow were reported by Robinsong at Sweitzer SP on April 26. The Fox Sparrow was on the SE side of the lake. Denver County: --An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Thornton-Kolbe on the east side of the Platte about 150 - 250 yards from Evans going towards Florida Ave on April 28. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --A GLOSSY IBIS with a flock of White-faced Ibis was reported by Schmoker at Chatfield State Park on April 19. The ibis were seen about 1/4 mile upstream from the Plum Creek nature area (flooded) parking area. The GLOSSY IBIS was seen again on April 26 by Chavez. --4 Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Kellner at Chatfield on April 28. One light morph was by the Plum Creek Delta picnic area parking lot and 3 (2 light, 1 dark) were by the newer heron overlook. Fremont County: --A male Summer Tanager was reported by Rich Miller at the eastern end of the Riverwalk in Canon City on April 28. Garfield County: --3 Tundra Swans were reported be Deininger at Cerise Ranch Pond on April 26. Jefferson County: --5 Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Smart at Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch on April 26. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Chavez on Morrison Road just east of C-470 on April 28. Kiowa County: --A male Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Kaempfer along US 287 between Neegrande and Neesopah Reservoirs on April 26. Lake County: --A Curved-billed Thrasher and all three species of Rosy-Finches visited the yard of Tim and Melanie Kalbach in Leadville on April 26. The Thrasher can be seen in their yard and in the dirt road behind their back fence. Directions: From I-70 and Hwy 91 south from Copper Mountain, enter Leaville, go through the traffic light by Safeway, continue to the Family Dollar, and turn left on E. 11th St. Cross the railroad track and make the next right turn on Hazel; turn Left onto E. 10th. Their house (413 E. 10th) is the 4th on the right with a gravel driveway. A small lavender colored Victorian with multi-colored trim. E. 10th St. does not connect to the main road (Hwy 24). If you get to a Subway, you have gone too far. The unnamed dirt street is a block south of E. 10th and bisects two rows of back yards. Directions: Park at the Barnes Softball Fields (from Hwy 402 take US 287 north about 1 mile). The fields are on the west side of the road. Walk west, cross bridge, follow trail which goes under S. Railroad Ave. The bird was about 200 yards west of the road. Kogler reported that the Parula was in the middle of S. Railroad Ave and First Street on the bike path on April 26. You can park at the Fairgrounds Park at Railroad Ave or corner of 1st and Taft. --Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Griffin and Sparks in Fort Collins. Sparks had one at Lee Martinez Park on April 25 and Griffin had 2 fly over his house which is .5 mile SE of Harmony and College on April 27. On April 28 Sparks reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks at Lee Martinez Park in Fort Collins. Las Animas County: --A SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was reported by Debby Oberbeck at the 17th hole of the Cougar Canyon Golf Course in Trinidad on April 26. Lincoln County: --A Short-billed Dowitcher was reported by Roller at Schafer Reservoir which is south of Hugo on April 25. For directions see the Colorado County Birding Website. --A male Summer Tanager was reported by Clouse at the Karval Mountain Plover Festival on April 26. Montezuma County: --A Snowy Plover was found by Morris at McPhee Reservoir on April 25 and April 26. For directions see the Colorado County Birding Website. --A Caspian Tern was found by Deininger at the west end of McPhee Reservoir on April 25. --LUCY'S WARBLERS were reported by Beatty in Yellowjacket Canyon on April 25 and by the Durango Bird Club on April 26. --A Purple Martin was reported by Garrison on a power line east of the mill which is SE of Dolores on April 26. Otero County: --4-5 Snowy Plovers were reported by Maynard at Lake Cheraw on April 25. --A Green Heron was reported by Maynard at Rocky Ford SWA on April 25. Prowers County: --At least 4 Northern Cardinals were reported by Kaempfer at Lamar Community College Woods (LCCW) on April 26. --At LCCW Mark Miller reported Curve-billed Thrasher and Red-bellied Woodpecker on April 26. --A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Percival at Lamar High School grove on April 26. Pueblo County: --A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Schaum at Chico Basin Ranch (fee) in the SW corner of Rose Pond on April 24 and was seen again by Percival on April 26. --A molting male Summer Tanager was reported by Percival in Rock Canyon below Pueblo Reservoir Dam on April 28. It was SE of the large fish pond. Routt County: --A Glossy Ibis was reported by South at Stagecoach Reservoir on April 26. Weld County: --An alternate plumaged Dunlin was reported by Kellner at Latham on the south side of CR 48 on April 24 and it was seen again by DeFonso on April 26. --A Dunlin was reported by Wilson at Beebe Draw on the north side of CR 42 on April 26. --A Glossy Ibis was reported by DeFonso at Latham on CR 48 on April 26. --A male Hooded Warbler has been visiting the yard of Pauli Smith off and on since April 18 and was last seen on April 26. Smith lives on Highland Lake NE of Mead. If you would like to try for the bird please call her at 970-535-4936. --Smith reported a pair of Broad-winged Hawks flying over her place NE of Mead on April 28. The DFO field trip for Saturday, May 2, will be to Parker Regional Park led by Steve Kenneday (303-690-8265). Meet the leader at 0730 at Parker Regional Park. From the Main Street intersection in Parker, take Hwy 83 south for 1.2 miles. Turn right on Indian Pipe Lane to the parking lot on the right. The Park is on the west side of the road. Half day trip. Wear walking shoes and bring water and sunscreen. The DFO field trip for Sunday, May 3 will be Birding by Ear at Roxborough State Park led by Alison Kondler (303-904-9140). Meet the leader at 0830 at the Roxborough SP Visitor Center. An indoor presentation will be followed by an easy walk to listen to the birds. Bring water and snacks. Space is limited. Call the visitor center (303-973-3959) for reservations. Take S. Wadsworth past Chatfield SP to Waterton Rd on left. Take Waterton Rd 1.6 miles east to North Rampart Range Rd, turn right and go south 2.3 miles to Roxborough Park Rd. Turn left and follow signs to park (2.2 miles) State Parks pass required.
