A friend in Aguilar had said she'd seen a Rose-breasted Grosbeak the other day,
so I was on the lookout. While casually watching out the window yesterday
(4/28), I noticed one of the birds amongst the pignacious (sp. correct)
blackbirds had white streaking. I grabbed the binocs to discover the FOS
Rose-breasted Grosbeak in my yard. I was all excited and noted the finding on
my little blog, though my own photos didn't turn out all that great.

Later, as I was leaving for work, also saw a FOS Lazuli Bunting! I always enjoy
'discovering' First of Season birds; this week has been fun! Got a couple
photos of that one, too. Nice!

Total list for the morning in my La Veta, Huerfano County CO yard was:

1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 1 Lazuli Bunting, 3 Lesser Goldfinch, 11 American
Goldfinch, 45 Pine Siskin, 9 Eurasian Collared-Dove, 1 Black-chinned

American Robin, 11 European Starling, 1 Dark-eyed Junco, 17 Red-winged
Blackbird, 5 Common Grackle, 4 Brown-headed Cowbird, 4 House Finch, 3 Evening
Grosbeak, 2 House Sparrow, 3 Turkey Vulture
