Baca County: --At Two Buttes the Kellner caravan had 3 Yellow-throated Vireos and 1 White-throated Sparrow on May 2. --At Burchfield SWA the Kellner caravan reported a Hooded Warbler and Black-and-white Warbler on May 2. Bent County: --A Black-and-white Warbler was reported by Percival at Hasty Campground on April 27 and seen again on May 1 by Percival. Percival also reported a female Summer Tanager at Hasty Campground on May 1. --At Fort Lyon the Kellner Caravan reported a Nashville Warbler and Rose-breasted Grosbeak on May 2. Boulder County: --A Northern Parula was reported by Zilly at Pella Crossing near Hygiene on April 25 and seen again by Zilly on April 28. Zilly also reported a fly over Broad-winged Hawk on April 28. --A Green Heron was reported at Walden Ponds in Boulder by Zmolek on April 28. On May 1, a Green Heron were seen on the west end of Ricky Weiser Wetland by Tumasonis. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Deininger near the Twin Peaks Mall in Longmont on April 28. --A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Floyd at Prince Lake #2 on May 1. At least 2 GLOSSY IBIS were reported by Smart at Prince Lake #2 on May 2. --A Black-and-white Warbler was reported by Floyd at Greenlee Preserve in Lafayette on May 1. --1 - 2 Blackpoll Warblers were reported by Szeliga at Twin Lakes in Gunbarrel on May 1. --A Black-throated Gray-Warbler was reported by Tumasonis at Dowdy Draw on May 2. --A Green Heron was reported by Such in Lyons at a pond south of the intersection of Hwy 36 & McConnell Drive on May 2. Broomfield County: --Larry Semo reported that Doug Faulkner spotted a Nashville Warbler at Interlocken Business Park on April 30. Nissen #2 is on Aspen, .5 mile south of 136th Ave. Custer County: --A female KENTUCKY WARBLER was reported by Rich Miller in the Willow Thicket below the dam at DeWeese Reservoir on April 28 and seen again on April 29 by Percival. Denver County: --An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Thornton-Kolbe on the east side of the Platte about 150 - 250 yards from Evans going towards Florida Ave on April 28. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --4 Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Kellner at Chatfield on April 28. One light morph was by the Plum Creek Delta picnic area parking lot and 3 (2 light, 1 dark) were by the newer heron overlook. --A White-winged Dove was reported by Kondler NE of the Wildlife Viewing Area Deck at Chatfield on May 2. El Paso County: --A female Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Pals at Fountain Creek Regional Park on May 2. El Paso/Pueblo Counties: --A male Indigo Bunting was banded by Gobris at Chico Basin Ranch (fee) on April 29 on the El Paso side and was recaught by Gobris on May 2. --A male Hooded Warbler was banded by Gobris at Chico Basin Ranch on May 1. --A male KENTUCKY WARBLER was reported by Maynard at headquarters pond of Chico Basin Ranch on May 1. --On May 2, Brown reported the following at Chico Basin: Winter Wren, Black-and-white Warbler, and Hooded Warbler. Fremont County: --A male Summer Tanager was reported by Rich Miller at the eastern end of the Riverwalk in Canon City on April 28. Jefferson County: --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Chavez on Morrison Road just east of C-470 on April 28. --On May 2 at Waterton, Kingery reported a LEAST BITTERN; Black-throated Sparrow banded by McBurney at the banding station; Floyd reported a Broad-winged Hawk. Kiowa County: --A Field Sparrow was reported by Percival at the Neenoshe Locust Grove on April 30 and 2 were seen on May 1 by Percival. Larimer County: --Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Griffin and Sparks in Fort Collins. Sparks had one at Lee Martinez Park on April 25 and Griffin had 2 fly over his house which is .5 mile SE of Harmony and College on April 27. On April 28 Sparks reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks at Lee Martinez Park in Fort Collins. --A pair of Caspian Terns was reported by DeFonso at Wellington Gravel Pits on Kechter Road in SE Fort Collins on May 1. --A male Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by DeFonso at Dixon Reservoir on May 2. Morgan County: --A Piping Plover was reported by Deininger at Jackson Lake SP at the west boat ramp on May 2. Kaempfer reported Field Sparrow and Harris's Sparrow at Jackson on May 2. Montezuma County: A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Arnold at McElmo Creek at Battle Rock Farm on May 2. Prowers County: --A PINE WARBLER and Black-and-white Warbler were reported by Percival at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar on April 30 and again on May 1. The Keller Caravan reported the Black-and-white Warbler on May 2. --At Lamar Community College Woods (LCCW): ----Percival reported a BLUE-HEADED Vireo on April 30 and two on May 1. A BLUE-HEADED VIREO was seen by the Kellner caravan on May 2. ----Percival reported a pair of Northern Cardinals on May 1. ----The Kellner caravan reported a Nashville Warbler, Hooded Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, and Swamp Sparrow on May 1. --At Rocking 7K Ogle reported the following on May 2 BLUE-HEADED VIREO, Black-and-white Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Northern Parula. Pueblo County: --A molting male Summer Tanager was reported by Percival in Rock Canyon below Pueblo Reservoir Dam on April 28. It was SE of the large fish pond. Washington County: --At Last Chance: ----On May 1, the Kellner caravan found male Hooded Warbler, White-throated Sparrow, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and a Blackpoll Warbler. ----On May 2, Friedberg found a pair of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, 3 White-throated Sparrows, Hooded Warbler, and Northern Waterthrush. Weld County: --Smith reported a pair of Broad-winged Hawks flying over her place NE of Mead on April 28. --A GLOSSY IBIS and Dunlin were reported by Hooper near the intersection of CR 45 & 46 on May 1. The DFO field trip for Sunday, May 3 will be Birding by Ear at Roxborough State Park led by Alison Kondler (303-904-9140). Meet the leader at 0830 at the Roxborough SP Visitor Center. An indoor presentation will be followed by an easy walk to listen to the birds. Bring water and snacks. Space is limited. Call the visitor center (303-973-3959) for reservations. Take S. Wadsworth past Chatfield SP to Waterton Rd on left. Take Waterton Rd 1.6 miles east to North Rampart Range Rd, turn right and go south 2.3 miles to Roxborough Park Rd. Turn left and follow signs to park (2.2 miles) State Parks pass required.
