Hi COBirders,

Today not many birds seemed to have arrived overnight, and it was slow
initially. As the morning went on, we actually did pretty well, with
great diversity. It was pretty dead by noon. Missing today were any
thrushes, flycatchers, or vireos, and only a few warblers were seen.
Total new birds banded numbered 30. Boosting the numbers banded was a
flock of Chipping Sparrows that finally found the nets.

Banded bird hIghlights: FOS male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, FOS male
(spankin') Western Tanager, FOS male (spankin') Yellow Warbler, FOS
male (spankin') American Goldfinch, a dozen FOS Chipping Sparrows, and
Myrtle, Audubon's, and Orange-crowned Warblers. Also captured were a
House Wren and Am Robin banded in previous seasons, (but are probably
local breeders). Also seen - male Bullock's Oriole, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher. We are awaiting the arrival of large numbers of
Swainson's Thrush - should be any day now!

Chico Days this Saturday - see the ranch website.
