Maggie Boswell, Joyce Takamine, Sandy Arnesen, Scott Rashid and I searched
for the Grace's Warbler starting at 7:15 this morning. No one had seen the
bird before I left about 9:00AM; although I thought I heard it sing once.
Finally the bird started to sing more frequently around 10:00 allowing
Maggie to refind it. Dave Leatherman who was in Estes as a featured speaker
at a Tree Symposium also got to see the bird at about 11:15. Dave observed
that it was feeding on Wooly Aphids. I last saw the bird about 12:00. It
seems to like to hang out in the Ponderosa Pines in the "Pine Point",
"Swamp" and the south side of "Warbler Alley" region of the Matthews-Reeser
Sanctuary. A description of these areas can be found on pages 131 and 132
of Scott Roederer's book, "Birding Rocky Mountain National Park".
