Hi again--

I rejoice that I've had two good hikes in about 4 days. Tried the Gregory
Canyon option this morning since it was so beautiful out. The chats,
tanagers (nope: no scarlet!), Virginia's warblers (4 squabbling over a small
sunny hillside), RC kinglets and a few YR warblers, hummers, and even a
dusky flycatcher were in fine fettle. A falcon was screaming at something,
and there were many, many swifts.

WB nuthatch was feeding a female. These cannot have fledged by now, can
they? So I presume this was a courting gesture?

I was surprised at how deserted it was, generally, in the shady riparian
areas. Others have seen thrushes; none were here. No catbirds in the shrubs.
No puzzling warblers to look up in the book...

Maybe tomorrow. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Linda
