Birders,
A pair of LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS were cavorting in the large burned Ponderosa Pine trees along the hogback in the Eldorado Mountain Open Space today. To get to this location, turn left onto CR 67 just before dropping into Eldorado Springs off of Eldorado Springs Drive. Go to the end of the street and park near the green gate. Notice the new information kiosk at the gate with pertinent access information. Lots of changes up there (related to Doudy Draw, I guess; wish I had more power over these things). Walk up the dirt road, go up the first big switch back and turn left (south) at the fork. You'll be walking south along the base of the hogback (along the ripple rocks) with the burned area up to your right. Just keep an eye and ear out for the woodpeckers near the top of the ridge. Lot of other forest birds returning to their territories with plenty of LAZULI BUNTINGS, VIRGINIA'S and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, SPOTTED TOWHEES, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, ROCK WRENS etc. Good birding, Christian Nunes [email protected] http://www.flickr.com/photos/christian_nunes/ _________________________________________________________________ Windows Liveā¢: Keep your life in sync. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_BR_life_in_synch_052009 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Join us at the 2009 Convention in Alamosa: http://cfo-link.org/convention/index.php You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
