This morning, just before 7 a.m., a Virginia Rail was calling in the wetlands
at the northwest corner of Smith Lake. Around the same time, a Sora was
calling in the wetlands at the west end of Kendrick Lake. Both lakes are quite
high; the wetlands areas near the bike paths that are often dry currently have
standing water.

The Smith Lake wetlands is at the southeast corner of Kipling and Florida;
follow the bike path south along Kipling to where it curves east toward the
lake. Kendrick Lake is just to the east; the Sora was calling in the wetlands
at the northeast corner of Jewell and Lee, where the bike path enters the
property.
