This morning Andrew Spencer, John Breitsch, and I birded Sondermann Park.
Despite the windy conditions, the birding was excellent.

We re-found the "BREWSTER'S WARBLER" (Blue-winged x Golden-winged hybrid). It
was in the southern part of the park, moving around quite actively with a small
mixed flock including several Yellow-rumped Warblers, a Virginia's Warbler, and
a Lazuli Bunting. It gave a Blue-winged Warbler-type song numerous times.

I first heard this bird sing yesterday morning, once just very faintly. But I
couldn't find it, didn't hear it again, concluded I probably hadn't heard what
I thought I had (Blue-winged), and basically forgot about it. It was only found
later in the day by birders looking for the White-eyed Vireo. I saw it
yesterday evening, moving in that same flock (which then also included a
Plumbeous Vireo) with Bill Maynard and Robb Hinds, who has posted some
marvelous photos. As you can see, it doesn't resemble the drawings of
"Brewster's" in Sibley, but it is very close to one in National Geo, 5th ed.,
the only significant difference being that it has yellow instead of white
wingbars.

This morning we also re-located the WHITE-EYED VIREO and obtained superb looks
at this bright individual toward the middle section of the willows, on the east
side, in the northern part of the park. Note that in one of the photos of the
vireo that Robb posted the bird has a twig in its beak.

Other notable birds at Sondermann this morning:

Broad-winged Hawk (calling while chewing on a robin)
Rose-breasted Grosbeak (male, singing)

Also: A Western Wood-Pewee had shown up, some Western Tanagers were around, and
a Gray Catbird was calling.

Good birding,
Allan Burns
