Though I didn't see any vagrants or other rarities today, it was really
rocking. There were birds everywhere and they were all vocalizing. I
birded several locations in and around Canon City including the Sell's Lake
area of the Canon City Riverwalk, Florence Mtn Park and private
properties--here are the highlights:

Yellow-crowned Night-Heron-1 adult at private wetland
Green Heron-2 birds together, hopefully a pair
American White Pelicans--about 120 still staging here on their way to Antero
Res where they nest
Forster's Tern-2 (very uncommon in this area)
Great Horned Owl fledglings-2 "branchers"--still hopping on branches not
flying yet
Western Wood-Pewee--found along Arkansas River but in low numbers so far,
but now singing
Black Phoebe--1 at Florence Mtn Park along river
Eastern Phoebe-at least 3 including one at CC Riverwalk yesterday
Swainson's Thrush--CC Riverwalk (thrushes are uncommon in this area)
Gray Catbirds--saw 6-7 on CC Riverwalk where they are becoming quite common
Curve-billed Thrasher--3 nestlings in cactus nest on my friends property
Tennesse Warbler-1 on CC Riverwalk
Yellow Warblers--abundant everywhere near the Arkansas River
Yellow-rumped Warblers--many along Arkansas River
MacGillivray's Warbler-1 on CC Riverwalk
Common Yellowthroat-many along Arkansas River
Yellow-breasted Chats--increasing numbers along Arkansas River
Wilson's Warbler--saw FOS Wilson's on CC Riverwalk
Western Tanagers--dozens on CC Riverwalk
Lincoln's Sparrow-1 on CC Riverwalk
Black-headed Grosbeak and Bullock's Orioles are here in good numbers while
buntings just arriving
