My son, Kyle, and I drove up to checkout the sand spit just east of the
Chatfield SP marina early this morning (arriving at 6:15am). No Piping Plover
was found after exhaustive scanning, although 6 White-rumped Sandpipers were
still there, presenting good looks both on the ground and flying a loop around
for us. A single Laughing Gull was also present when we first arrived, along
with a few others, but it left shortly after. Rick Olson and Bob Brown joined
us later, lending more eyes to the confirmation that the plover was not there.
We didn't have time to check the rest of the reservoir shores, but maybe it's
still around somewhere. Rick also spotted a couple Black Terns out over the
water, of which we all got decent views.

Good Birding,
