Alamosa County: --A GLOSSY IBIS was seen by CFO birders on South River Road on May 23. Arapahoe County: --A Least Tern was reported by Stachowiak at Cherry Creek SP at the new wetland south of the model airplane field on May 24. --A Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Nelson near the edge of Cherry Hills Golf Course on May 24. Boulder County: --An Ovenbird was reported by Tumasonis on the upper part of Bear Creek Trail (south of NCAR) on May 24. Conejos County: --A Scott's Oriole was seen by CFO birders in the parking lot of John James Canyon on May 23. Costilla Countty: --A Least tern was seen by CFO birders at Smith Reservoir on May 24. Delta County: --White-winged Crossbills were reported by Drummond at the Visitor Center at Grand Mesa on May 19. --2 m Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were reported by Nicholoff on Minnesota Creek in the Creek Subdivision of Hotchkiss on May 23. Douglas County: --A Least Tern was reported by Walbek on the tip of the sandspit at Chatfield SP on May 21. At 1745 on May 21, Stachowiak reported the Least Tern and a Laughing Gull at the sandspit. --A Piping Plover was found by Differding at the sandspit at Chatfield on May 22. --On May 23, Huffstater reported a Laughing Gull at the sandspit at Chatfield. --A male Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Nelson along the Hignline Canal on May 23. They started walking around McClellan Reservoir and headed south and west. El Paso County: --A Chestnut-sided Warbler was reported by Lake below the dam of the pond at the end of Walsen Road in northern El Paso County on May 23. It is south of Gleneagle and north of Northgate. El Paso/Pueblo Counties: --At Chico Basin Ranch (fee): ----On May 19, Brown reported that a m Indigo Bunting was still around the Banding Station. ----On May 20, Gibbons reported a Whimbrel at headquarters pond. ----On May 21, Brown reported that a Northern Waterthrush was banded, a f Rose-breasted Grosbeak was seen around the banding station and a f Blackpoll Warbler was see at Rose Pond. ----On May 21, Gibbons reported a female plumaged Purple Martin at headquarters. ----On May 23, Maynard reported a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER at Rose Pond and a m Rose-breasted Grosbeak. ----On May 23, Gibbons banded an ALDER FLYCATCHER and Brown reported a f Blackpoll Warbler at Rose Pond. Fremont County: --A basic plumaged RED-THROATED LOON was reported by Rich Miller at Brush Hollow Reservoir on May 19. Hinsdale County: --A White-winged Crossbill was seen by CFO birders near Slumgillion Pass on May 23. Jefferson County: --A f Northern Parula was reported by Plage at Welchester Tree Park in Lakewood on May 21. --A singing Chestnut-sided Warbler was reported by Plage at Welchester Tree Park on May 22. Logan County: --A f PAINTED BUNTING was reported by Kaempfer at Prewitt on the east side along the dam on May 20. Mesa County: --A possible GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL was reported by Steger at Highline Lake State Park on May 20. Pueblo County: --A BAY-BREASTED WARBLER was found by Silverman at Lake Beckwith in Colorado City on May 22. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Percival in Colorado City in the Meadowcreek Subdivision on May 23. Rio Grande County: --An Indigo Bunting was seen by CFO birders in Del Norte on May 24. Saguache County: --A possible SPRAGUE'S PIPIT was seen by CFO birders at Natural Arch north of Del Norte on May 23. Washington County: --1 Northern Waterthrush and 2 f Indigo Buntings were reported by Tina Jones at Last Chance on May 19. Weld County: --A Caspian Tern was reported by Kaempfer at St. Vrain State Park on May 18. --A NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was reported by Kaempfer on a sand spit on the east side of Lower Latham on May 19. The cormorant can be seen from CR 47. --At Crow Valley on May 20, Dick reported a White-eyed Vireo, m Black-throated Blue Warbler, and m Rose-breasted Grosbeak. --At Crow Valley on May 22, Chavez reported White-eyed Vireo, Ovenbird, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Indigo Bunting The Field trip for Monday, May 25 will be to 88th and South Plate Trail led by Jackie King (303-287-1644). Meet the leader at 0730 at the parking area at E. 88th and South Platte River. From I-76, take E 88th Ave exit, go west on 88th for 1.6 miles then turn south at Colorado Blvd. Turn left into parking lot for Greenway Trailhead. Bring lunch and drinking water.
