Hi all,

Two early evening forays into town have produced sightings of a male
red-headed woodpecker, first ever for us. As we drive from our subdivision
onto the county road, the woodpecker flies over to the same fence post, then
flies off when we pull over for a closer look. We’ve lived here 12 years and
had other woodpecker species (Downy, hairy, Lewis’s), but never a
red-headed.

Also of note, for the past week and a half, we’ve had two brown thrashers
bathing in our pond, preening in the trees, and even feeding at our platform
feeders. Another first for the yard.
