Boulder County: --Dunning reported that the male SCARLET TANAGER has returned to Gregory Canyon on May 28. It was seen on the Gregory Canyon Trail in Boulder about 100 yards further uphill from pole #50. On July 11, Peterson reported that the SCARLET TANAGER was still in the upper canyon. --A singing KENTUCKY WARBLER was reported by Andes-Georges in the Gregory Canyon Parking Lot on June 5. On the morning of June 26, De Fonso found the KENTUCKY WARBLER near the parking lot and then up the Amphitheater Trail accompanied by a Hooded Warbler. The KENTUCKY WARBLER was reported by Peterson near the parking lot on July 11. --A possible Northern Parula was heard singing on the Gregory Canyon Trail by Peterson on July 11. --2 - 3 Green Herons were seen by the BBC First Sunday Birders led by Waltman at Walden Ponds on July 7. They observed one juvenile Green Heron perched high in a tree. --A female American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by Dunning in Wild Basin beyond Calypso Cascade on July 9. Wild Basin is in Rocky Mountain National Park. Delta County: --Purple Martins were reported by Garrison in ne Delta County on FR 265 and FR 701 on July 4. Denver County: --A breeding plumaged Common Loon and possible RED-THROATED LOON were reported by Tina Jones on Marston Reservoir on July 11. They could be seen from Bow Mar Drive. Douglas County: --A BLACK VULTURE was discovered by Metz and seen by Walbek in Castlewood Canyon State Park on July 3 around 10:30 am. It was seen south of the Homestead Parking Area. Faulkner reported that the BLACK VULTURE was seen on July 11 at about 9:50 am from the Homestead Parking Area. --A male Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Teuton near the Homestead Parking Area at Castlewood Canyon State Park on July 5. Gunnison County: --An American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by Garrison about 1/2 mile west of the top of Kebler Pass on CR 12 on July 3. Jefferson County: --A pair of Indigo Buntings was reported by Henwood at Bear Creek Lake Park on June 20. They were east of Muskrat Meadows Picnic Area along the path on the north side of the creek. Teuton reported the singing male in the area on July 3. Rio Blanco County: --A pair of Indigo Buntings was reported by Hilkey at Chase Draw which is NE of Rangely at a spot where the road crosses the draw and goes west just above a large spring on July 3. Summit County: --Nesting American Three-toed Woodpeckers were reported by Nims in the Willow Creek Block on July 7. Weld County: --An adult GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Wild at Lower Latham at CR 48 on July 3. The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, July 11 will be to Quincy Reservoir in Aurora led by Mary Ann Bonnell (303-739-2428). You must register with the leader for meeting time and place. Mary Ann is head naturalist for Aurora. Half-day Trip. Bring sunscreen, bug spray and water. The DFO Field trip for Sunday, July 12 will be to O'Fallon Park and Lair O'the Bear led by Alison Kondler (303-904-9140). Call the leader for directions and other information about this trip.
