I met a friend of mine from Kentucky to bird the area north of Strasburg.
We did find Mountain Plovers on 64 Ave about 0.5 miles east of Headlight
Road. There were at least five adults and many young ones in this field of
barren ground with a lot of stubble on the north side of 64 Ave.. I've
never seen so many Mountain Plovers in one place. My friend saw these
plovers here on
Friday along with a couple of Upland Sandpipers which were calling.
We couldn't find the Upland Sandpipers on Sunday.
We also saw Dickcissels, Lark Buntings, and Grasshopper Sparrows along
Headlight Road.
