Dear Cobirders,
I've had fairly low numbers of Hummingbirds in my yard in Gunbarrel
again this year. I did move my feeder higher so that it is more
visible over the stockade fence and now I at least have reliable
numbers each morning. On Sunday morning, I had one female and one
immature Rufous Hummingbird and this morning I had one male Calliope
Hummingbird and one male Rufous Hummingbird. The birds seem to show
up around 10 past 7 in the morning and are gone by 8 in the morning.
I don't know what I could do to keep them around all day! In
addition, my over-exuberance in planting Sunflowers this year has
begun to attract the interest of the resident American Goldfinches.
Although there aren't any seeds yet, I have a continuous flow of
female Goldfinches examining the seed heads.

Cheers,
Walter Szeliga
