The afternoon of Aug 7, Friday, I saw several small groups of migrating western kingbirds in and near Cherry Creek State Park (Arapahoe). The two largest groups consisted of 10 and 7 individuals..pure kingbird groups, no other flycatchers. Tonight (Aug 8 11PM) I drove through the park. The weather has changed and is about 8 degrees cooler than last night. Two separate birds flew across my path from north to south...both were grayish with no noticable markings. One was sparrow to starling sized, another robin-sized, both 5 to 6 feet over the ground and over open land, not trees. So..new birds should be in the area tomorrrow. This will likely bring another hummingbird push, as well.
