Hello, Birders.

I heard the unmistakable, petulant yenk-yenk-yenking of a Red-breasted Nuthatch
at 6:03 this morning, Wednesday, August 12th, out at Greenlee Preserve, eastern
Boulder County. Each year, it seems, a few Red-breasted Nuthatches wander out
onto the plains in midsummer. And it's always a surprise, even though I should
be used to it by now.

(There's been a Say's Phoebe out there this morning, too--a wanderer from
somewhere.)
