Hi all,

After a few earlier unsuccessful attempts I finally managed to see the
Neotropic Cormorant that's been seen lately at Timnath Reservoir in
eastern Larimer County. I was quite lucky this morning, as I happened
upon the small, unvegetated lake right next to the county road where
they were first reported right as a pair of cormorants were flying in.
(This was around 7:10am.) Just as I was hoping, one of them was in
fact the Neotrop, discerned by its notably dark lores, pointed gape,
squatter bill, and diminuitive size as seen in flight when the pair
were flushed from the pond 3 minutes later by a passing truck.

The bird apparently flew back west to the main reservoir, and probably
joined the very large group of about 200 cormorants loafing on the
sandspit way out, viewable only from that area just north of the
unfinished house in that empty subdivision on the east side of the
reservoir.

Lots of birds out at the main viewing area just south of that pond,
including Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, Wilson's Snipe, Willet,
Cattle Egret, a juvenile Plegadis ibis, and even some Redhead. No
Blue-footed Boobies though, best as I could tell.
