Hello Allison,
I just drove home from Denver (I live in Lafayette) and we stopped at the City Park behind the zoo around 1200. At the corner of 21st St. and York near the Gray-Bibbler(?) House in with a bunch of Canada geese on the ground was what was either a Greater white fronted goose or a Domestic goose (anser anser?). I only had my National Geographic Field Guide in the car and this bird looked a lot like the illustration of the GWF goose (there was no illustration of domestic goose). I've never seen a GWF goose before. I had some cookies in the car and approached these geeese to within a few feet. The bird in question was practically eating out of my hand. Here's a description: very similar to the National Geographic illustration except white area around base of bill was narrow. It also did not have dark bars on it's belly. The hard area around the eye was yellow and the eye dark brown. Legs orange while bill was paler orange with some different colored areas. Slightly larger than accompanying Canada geese. Do you have anyone in the area who could check this out? Thanks - Dave Hyde, Lafayette _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live: Make it easier for your friends to see what you’re up to on Facebook. http://windowslive.com/Campaign/SocialNetworking?ocid=PID23285::T:WLMTAGL:ON:WL:en-US:SI_SB_facebook:082009 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Colorado County Birding: http://www.coloradocountybirding.com/ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
