Hi all,

A few interesting things were seen on Arkansas Valley Audubon Society's annual
trip to the Wet Mountain Valley, near Westcliffe, Custer County on 8/22.  Lake
DeWeese had some shorebirds including a Semipalmated Plover, three Stilt
Sandpipers, many Baird's Sandpipers, and few Western and Least Sandpipers.
Also at the lake, there were two Peregrine Falcons and a Hooded Merganser.
Below the dam area at Lake DeWeese, there were quite a few birds as usual,
Wilson's and Yellow Warblers, Willow and Cordilleran Flycatchers, Williamson's
Sapsuckers, Pinyon Jays, Clark's Nutcrackers, among others.  In the afternoon,
south of town there was a Townsend's Warbler.

Today 8/23, Lisa Edwards and I drove up Ophir Creek Road (Custer County), we
saw a Dusky Grouse, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Clark's Nutcracker, among other
birds.  On Greenhorn Mountain Road (Custer/Huerfano Counties), we saw two
American Three-toed Woodpecker, Gray Jays, Cassin's Finch, Pine Grosbeak,
Clark's Nutcracker, among other birds.

Good birding,

Brandon Percival
