Folks, Joey, Loch and I drove to Conchas Lake SP, NM last night arriving this morning at first light. We scanned the lake from the dam for about 20 minutes before seeing the Blue-footed Booby. It was clear across the lake, about 1.5 miles away. We watched as it dove several times straight into the water. The bird then began flying along the lake edge and ended up near the dam where we marveled from close range at the beast. On 3 occasions the bird flew directly along the dam right over our heads providing some excitement and decent photos, some of which you can see by following the link below. All in all a very rewarding excursion.
