On a rare, calm morning at Totten Reservoir today, there was a
Sanderling along the east shore. It was briefly "traveling with" a
Spotted Sandpiper. Other shorebirds included Lesser Yellowlegs,
Western Sandpipers and more Killdeer than we've seen all
summer. Mixed in with the shorebirds was a flock of American
Pipits. Coot and Pied-billed Grebe numbers have skyrocketed. There
are a few Ruddy Ducks and Ring-necked Ducks back as well.

Flocks of Yellow-rumped Warblers harassed swarms of gnats. About 20
Pinyon Jays noisily flew past, landing briefly in a juniper up the hillside.
