Hi COBirders,

Finally some clearing skies! There was a turnover last night, and
lots of activity heard at dawn, although few birds made it into the
nets today. Nothing too remarkable - just three times as many birds
banded as yesterday. 21 new birds banded today, and a couple of
Wilson's Warblers hanging around still that were banded 9/12 and 9/14.

New birds banded today:
Wilson's Warbler - 8
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 6
Orange-crowned Warbler - 3
Brown Thrasher
Dusky Flycatcher (seems late!)
Rock Wren
Brown Creeper

Also a male adult Sharp-shinned Hawk was terrorizing the flickers in
the treetops, and "something big" (Cooper's? Sharp-shinned?, Owl?)
went THROUGH a net in one of our active lanes, with a resultant mess
of shredded net and tangles with leaves, 6 feet off the ground. Wish
I'd seen that!

Remember the ranch is closed Saturday 9/26 for a family event.
