El Paso County: --A BLUE-HEADED VIREO was banded by Elwonger at Clear Springs Ranch on September 29. El Paso/Pueblo Counties: At Chico Basin: --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Gibbons at Chico Basin Ranch on September 28. --Field Sparrows were reported by Drummond near the corral (El Paso) and near HQ (Pueblo) on September 29. --2 Swamp Sparrows were reported by Drummond near HQ on September 29. --A western Palm Warbler was banded by Gibbons on September 30. Gunnison County: --A juv YELLOW RAIL was reported by Swan at the west end of the walkway at Cooper's Ranch on September 28. Larimer County: --A juv HUDSONIAN GODWIT was reported by Komar at Timnath Reservoir on September 24 and seen again by Komar on October 2. --An adult Golden-winged Warbler was reported by Leatherman in Fort Collins west of the Poudre River and about 2/3 mile north of Prospect on September 30. Pueblo County: --A male Summer Tanager was reported by Clawges foraging in his back yard on October 3. Birders are welcome to come and look. The location is in the Aberdeen section of Pueblo, east of City Park in the 200 block in the alley between Melrose and Dunsmere. Washington County: --A male Hooded Warbler was reported by Roller at Last Chance on October 2 and across the way by the old motel he reported a Field Sparrow. Weld County: --An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Lefko near the Weld County Landfill near Ault on September 29. --A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Leatherman at Crow Valley on October 2. --A female VARIED THRUSH was reported by Roller at Crow Valley on October 3. The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, October 4 will be to Chatfield State Park led by Ed Holub (303-979-2194). Meet at 0800 at the Swim Beach. Lunch Optional. You may want to stay longer if Ed has other "hot Spots" in mind. State Parks pass required. The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, October 10 will be to Sand Creek Park led by Mary Ann Bonnell (303-739-2428). You must call Morrison Nature Center to register and get meeting information. Cottonwood groves and ponds around this Aurora park should have waterfowl, permanent residents, and perhaps southbound species. The DFO birding event for Sunday, October 11 with be "The Big Sit" at Heron Overlook, Chatfield State Park with Joey Kellner (303-978-1748). Come and join Joey any time after dawn and bird as long as you want. Bring charis, food, drinks, binoculars, scopes and other essential birding equipment.
